After reading the article a few things came to my mind. It could be she is emotionally eating. I would be concerned enough to want to question what is going on emotionally with her and does she have a healthy self-esteem. Also, has she been to a physician and tested for diabetes. Many children at this age do eat more and gain some weight, and then in the early teens sprout up with a growing spurt and lose it. However, having said that the amount she is consuming does seem excessive, although at least not junk food. The more she eats, the more she will be able to consume. Check out if there are any internal emotions going on, have a physical with the Dr. and make an exercise routine that is fun, maybe a family walk after dinner, or one-on-one time with mom doing something physical which could open the doors for communication alone.
