Hope you are doing well. I was just wondering if you know where I can find a list of reputable crèche’s in the Western Cape area? My son currently stays with his granny  and will be two and half next year January, and I feel that he will be ready to go to school then. Where can I get a list? I have been popping into some schools but still have not found anything that I like.I  found one that I liked a lot, gave in the form and my friend also enrolled her girl there two weeks after me, only to find out, that I did not know a teacher there, therefore my neighbor’s daughter has been accepted but not my son. How ridiculous is that?   Please let me know if you have anything for me.

Thank you for your email. I am sorry you were unable to get your daughter into your school of choice. Sometimes a disappointment is a blessing in disguise and a school that is better suited to meeting your daughter's need will have a place for you.   I am pleased to hear that you are screening the schools carefully. Trust your instincts in this regard and do not be afraid to ask the hard questions.   I have a piece titled 'Should I send my baby to crèche?' on my website under Q&A  which gives you guidelines as to what to look for in a crèche. There is also a site called KiddiCare which lists recommended schools as well as testimonials from parents. You may want to ask the school for the phone numbers of the parents whose testimonials appear on the site so you can chat to them.Unfortunately I cannot endorse any of the schools listed.   Good luck and please let me know when you find the best school for your daughter.
